| Urban Design Group has been retained by the City of Austin to assist in the creation of an Urban Design Criteria Manual. The Urban Design Criteria Manual and related standards are being created for use by the development community, design professionals and City staff to guide the design and construction of complex public right-of-way improvement projects occurring in very specific zones of Austin, beginning with the Central Business District (CBD). It is proposed that the UDCM answer the questions posed in designing streetscapes and public spaces providing related standard details, specifications and products. UDG has been working with multiple City departments to assist in resolving design conflicts and providing engineering assistance where appropriate. UDG has prepared a draft of proposed details and is assisting City of Austin staff with the process by which these rules and details will be adopted. | |||||||
