Austin Clean Water Program Wastewater Improvements

The Austin Clean Water Program (ACWP) was created in November 2001 to comply with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued Administrative Order to eliminate Sanitary Sewer Overflows from the wastewater collection system.  UDG has successfully completed (or is in the process of completing) five ACWP projects for the Austin Water Utility.  These projects required surveying, easement preparation, public notification, design solution analysis, coordination with multiple departments and utilities, preparation of construction documents, general permitting, assistance in bidding and construction phase assistance. These projects are as follows:
  • ACWP 8 Inch Wastewater Line Improvements - East 7th and 8th Streets and Prospect Avenue in Austin -
    Replacement of approximately 2,200 L.F. of 12 inch water lines.

  • ACWP 6 Inch to 36 Inch Wastewater Line Improvements - Waller/Pedernales in Austin
    Replacement of 16,225 L.F. of 6 to 18 inch wastewater lines, replacement of 440 services, 103 new private laterals, replacement/installation of 107 wastewater manholes, and the construction of approximately 8,500 L.F. of 36 inch wastewater line.

  • ACWP 8 Inch/12 Inch/15 Inch Wastewater Line Improvements - Town Lake/East Riverside in Austin
    Construction of 1,601 L.F. of 8 inch wastewater line, 3,869 L.F. of 12 inch wastewater line, 1,297 L.F. 15 inch wastewater line, 93 L.F. bore and encasement pipe for 6 inch wastewater line, 345 L.F. bore and encasement pipe for 8 inch wastewater line, 389 L.F. bore and encasement pipe for 12 inch wastewater pipe, 26 manholes, removal and disposal of hydrocarbon contaminated soil, four private lateral relocations, 29 wastewater services, the abandonment of 8” wastewater line and ten wastewater manholes, the removal of a wastewater manhole, 5,478 L.F. of pavement repair for trench and the replacement of four concrete bus pads.

  • ACWP 8 Inch Wastewater Line Improvements in Austin
    Replacement of 1,082 L.F. of 8 inch wastewater lines in Valdez Street.

  • ACWP 12 Inch to 15 Inch Wastewater Improvements - Upper Tannehill, in Austin
    Installation of 212 L.F. of 8 inch waste-water, 1,823 L.F. of 12 inch wastewater, 1,000 L.F. of 15 inch wastewater, 18 services and 20 wastewater manholes, 2,800 L.F. of pavement repair, 350 L.F. of curb and gutter replacement, and replacement of a concrete bus pad in northeast Austin on Berkman Drive, Briarcliff Boulevard and Belfast Drive

UDG organized all the required research which included existing water and wastewater plans and locations, street and storm sewer plans and locations and all other existing utilities both above ground and below ground.  UDG managed all design surveys and evaluated existing wastewater line alignments and presented recommendations for line relocation. The project included cost estimating and subconsultant management.
