| The $42 million project consists of a new City Hall and Public Plaza constructed on a city block at Guadalupe and Cesar Chavez. The 115,000 S.F. city hall building incorporates roof plazas and gardens and is built above a new 750 space underground parking structure. The project also includes an underground pedestrian tunnel within the street R.O.W.
UDG worked as a subconsultant to Antoine Predock & Cotera Kolar, Negrete & Reed Architects providing the civil engineering design services. These services included site grading, drainage and utilities. Permitting services required separate permitting of the pedestrian tunnel and parking garage excavation and building and plaza. Work also included LEED's analysis and preparation of the traffic control plan. The planning and design of the public plaza and Great Streets sidewalks required considerable attention to landscape and water quality issues. Coordination with existing utilities and adjacent construction required phasing of the permitting and bidding. Civil work also included on-street parking improvements, pedestrian crosswalks and conceptual design of Cesar Chavez pedestrian median alternatives. |
